Abstract
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an approach for developing solutions in IT that are flexible and reusable. SOA is not a new concept and has evolved over the years to reach the flexibility required in today's business environment. Web services introduced the loosely coupled architecture to provide application reuse, but flexibility and agility remained a challenge. Many industry vendors who who were experienced with SOA pain points pulled together and created Service Component Architecture Standard to address these challenges. Apache Tuscany provides an open source implementation for the SCA standards. Many vendors have announced their support for SCA and will be providing products in the near future. Apache Tuscany is used by some like IBM as the basis for the product offering. In this presentation we will introduce SCA to you and demonstrate how SCA can be used to bring many assets in the IT together to create useful solutions for example an on-line retail store.
