Using Actor-based design for IP Sharing

Abstract
This paper will present the application and use model for actor-based design for IP sharing and reuse. The methodology will illustrate extending macro-actors and assembling platform models using base classes, sub-classes and instances. The combination of case with the instances will be shown to create a single reference for a variety of applications including performance analysis, power modeling, software development and verification. We will also look at how the polymorphic ports can facilitate easy integration of diverse IP without enforcing a common “generic” payload. We will show actual demonstrations of models that are incorporated with classes located across the Internet. The actor-based modeling with classes become a natural way for ensuring that all players are using the same version of a IP actor.

The future of this approach is a Model Exchange via the Internet, while retaining the reference model on the creators server. The graph editor will migrate to a Web Browser and the system model can be marketing document that can lead to the sale of implementation IP in hardware and software. Engineers in remote corners of the world can demonstrate their ability and generate revenue for their wares in the world market.
