A PTIDES simulator is built into Ptolemy II, design and simulation environment. Our activities on the modeling front include addressing interaction of PTIDES-based controller models with models of other system components (e.g. plants, networks). In  we describe a simulator for PTIDES. In  we show how to specify timed reactions to events and how to account for different modes of operation. By working with a model of distributed Power Plant control, we illustrate how this combination enables precise specification of timed mode transitions in modal models. By modal models, we mean the use of state machines that define modes of operation and govern the switching between modes. The extended version of the paper  gives more details for the networked case. For instance, on a general model, we show how to derive deadline bounds for event network transmissions.
